New option(s) coming …
After the announcement of changes to ShowingTime ownership this week, we immediately started looking at alternative showing service(s) that we might also offer to our members. Our plan is for you to be able to continue to use ShowingTime if you wish – or to use an alternative service which, would also be integrated into the MLS for your convenience!
We have already had demos on 5 services and have another very promising one early next week. We DO have at least one viable alternative already that could be added to our MLSs and will be making a decision very soon.
Be assured, we are on top of this and are, as always, leading the market to serve you with the best services!
Following the Zillow Group’s announcement Wednesday that it has entered into an agreement to acquire real estate showing management and market analytics company ShowingTime, we are aware that members are concerned but be very aware of your actions and communications. Please keep in mind the following when discussing these – and any – industry changes:
Zillow is a REALTOR® Member
Since Zillow Group (Zillow) is a REALTOR® Member, Zillow, like all other REALTOR® Members must comply with the NAR Code of Ethics and all other policies established by NAR, the MLS, and how IDX feeds may be utilized.
Currently, the Department of Justice is focused on the real estate industry and antitrust issues. Just as we wouldn’t discuss or engage in commission fixing, bid rigging, or other restraint on trade activities, we must not engage in conversations that would limit or discourage the free, open marketplace for all businesses and business models such as boycotting other REALTOR® Members in any advertising, marketing, or social media platforms. A REALTOR® that engages in antitrust activity may be sued by the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, or the Florida Attorney General’s Office.
Broker Responsibility and Control
Listing data and data decisions are made at the broker level. Brokers can opt out of any syndication platform offered by MIAMI. If you have questions or concerns about the syndication of your listings, please address this with your broker.
