The Jupiter-Tequesta-Hobe Sound Council of the MIAMI Association of REALTORS® endorses Dorothy Jacks in the election for Palm Beach County property appraiser. The JTHS Public Policy Committee unanimously voted to support Jacks on Feb. 3.

As Palm Beach Chief Deputy Property Appraiser, Jacks shares responsibilities with Property Appraiser Gary Nikolits for the overall operation of the office and its staff of 260. Nikolits is retiring after six terms and has endorsed Jacks, who has worked in the property appraiser’s office since 1988.

“Dorothy Jacks has more than 25 years of experience serving us in the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s office,” JTHS Council President Sue Gaieski said. “She rated the highest among all candidates for this position during our recent public policy meeting.”

The appraiser’s office determines the taxable values of more than 630,000 properties in Palm Beach County. JTHS plans on making a $1,000 political action committee contribution to Jacks’ campaign. The election for appraiser is nonpartisan.

“I have personally known Dorothy for years,” said Jupiter broker Patti Fitzgerald, who chairs the JTHS Public Policy Committee. “Her commitment and dedication to her office and the citizens she serves is paramount. She is an incredible asset to our community.”
