Executives from the MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI), the nation’s largest local Realtor group, will be promoting South Florida real estate at the IV Convensi, a top Realtor conference and expo in Curitiba, Brazil. More than 4,000 brokers and investors from Brazil and around the globe will be attending the Sept. 13-15 event.

Brazil is consistently the top foreign market searching for properties on MIAMI’s web portal, http://www.Miamire.com. Home buyers from Brazil purchase the third-most South Florida real estate among all foreign countries, according to the 2014 Survey of International Home Purchases conducted by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) for MIAMI. Brazil registered 11 percent of all foreign South Florida deals last year. Venezuelan and Argentinian buyers finished first and second, respectively, with 16 and 12 percent of international transactions.

“Miami’s world-class shopping, restaurants, and beaches continue to attract Brazilian home buyers,” said Teresa King Kinney, the chief executive officer for MIAMI. “With a growing number of Miami restaurants and retail stores catering to them, Brazilians are increasingly setting up businesses here, developing land, and relocating their families.”

Nearly three million Brazilians live outside their country of 200 million, according to 2013 data from the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, about one-third of them in the U.S. Companies that monitor Brazilians doing business in Florida believe that about 250,000 to 300,000 Brazilians now live in the Sunshine State. Brazilians comprise a majority of Miami’s tourists, 51 percent in 2013, and they have a cumulative investment of $1.7 billion in Miami, according to Miami statistics.

Brazilians in South Florida spend more on properties than other foreigners: $495,000 average sale price compared to $245,000 among all buyers in Florida.

Kinney will be making a presentation at the Brazilian conference on Sept. 15. MIAMI will have a 36 square-meter booth, where MIAMI will deliver information and flyers about South Florida. The following MIAMI members will be attending: Marcela Gillman of Luxury Properties & Rentals, Terezinha Canizales of Keller Williams Realty SW, and Leonardo F. Brito of Fortune International Realty Brickell Inc.
