MIAMI Member Phyllis Choy Appointed to Palm Beach County Housing Authority

The MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI) is honored to have one of its members, Phyllis Choy, appointed as commissioner to the Palm Beach County Housing Authority, a group that aims to provide affordable housing to low and moderate-income families. Choy has spent more than 20 years in real estate and is a Realtor with Water Pointe Realty Group in Tequesta, Fla.

Governor Rick Scott announced Choy’s appointment on Dec. 1. Choy succeeds Arsalia Byrd and will serve on the five-person volunteer commission until March 23, 2020. The PBCHA meets monthly to ensure the housing authority operates with integrity and continues its mission to build quality, affordable housing in the region.

“It’s a career highlight to serve as a Palm Beach County Housing Authority commissioner,” Choy said. “I’ve focused my career on integrity, ethics and the improvement of the real estate profession. I’ve served on numerous Realtor committees advocating for private property rights, affordable housing and legislative issues so to be appointed to this group is an incredible honor.”

Choy is a longtime member of JTHS-MIAMI, which seeks to serve, unify and lead residential members in Palm Beach and Martin counties. Choy served as JTHS president in 2004 and 2010 and is past president of the regional multiple listing service. She has also served on multiple committees at the state and local level, including the National Association of REALTORS®, Florida Realtors®, Women’s Council of Realtors and the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches.

She was named the JTHS Realtor of the Year in 2003 and earned the 2010 Realtor Achievement Award from the 160,000 member Florida Realtors®. Licensed in Florida since 1997, Choy holds the prestigious designations of CIPS, CRS, ABR, e-Pro and is a certified code of ethics instructor with Florida Realtors.
