Webinar: Florida Eviction Moratorium Updates
August 12 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 amFree
Instructor: Eddie Miller
On July 29th, 2020 Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order Number 20-180 suspending some residential evictions through September 1, 2020. On its face the moratorium seems to be just another extension of the rules halting residential evictions for non-payment of rent. But several important changes were made in this newest Order which will allow landlords to file evictions and possibly get Final Judgments where they otherwise may not have been able to.
This Order along with the Federal CARES Act which came into effect on March 27th naturally raises a number of questions for landlords throughout Florida. Can landlords eviction for non-payment of rent now? What other types of situations can landlords evict for? Can landlords serve 3-day notices now? What situations require a 30 day notice under the CARES Act? Can landlords charge late fees and other types of fees? Can they enter into payment plans with tenants? How are property managers and landlords dealing with these limitations? When will this process all clear up?
These questions along with a variety of others will be answered in our Coronavirus Eviction Webinar taking place, August 12th at 10 AM. Listen and participate from the convenience of your own computer as attorney Jerron Kelley of Kelley & Grant, P.A. discusses the implications of Coronavirus and the fast changing environment of Florida landlord/tenant law.
Joining Jerron to provide a property manager’s perspective will be Eddie Miller, partner of Pristine Property Management and past-president of NARPM (National Association of Residential Property Managers) SE Florida. Eddie will address the critical communication with tenants and landlords, the necessity of documentation, and a 90-day action plan.
Jerron and Eddie will take questions online from participants and share their answers live with the audience. We look forward to seeing you online!
