Commercial Land Contract
April 28th from 10:00am to 11:30am
Land is a particularly hot investment in South Florida due to the lack of availability and strong interest from developers around the world. Buying and selling land creates unique opportunities and challenges for investors, developers and those banking land.
Like other classes on commercial contracts, this class addresses practical and legal aspects of the land contract with instructor Russell Jacobs. He uses case studies and leverages his vast experience to cover key components that both the buyer and seller’s agent will find valuable. Topics include zoning, environmental, accessibility and future use. As always Mr. Jacobs will answer questions in this interactive class.
- Easy Money? No such thing. Learn the difference between Fixed Price vs. Unit Cost Contracts and the unique aspects of financing terms.
- Where Deals are Lost. Learn the most important due diligence items and how they are treated.
- Watch, calendar, hour glass. How you measure time is critical to whether you close your deal or end up in default with a lost deposit.
Russell S. Jacobs is a commercial and residential real estate lawyer with over twenty-five years of experience. Russ became addicted to real estate watching his grandmother, who was a seamstress in a factory, save her pennies and invest in real estate that ultimately helped serve her and her entire family in her retirement. Russ watched and worked as the real estate market changed the face of South Florida from sleepy vacation communities off the map to internationally recognized super cities.
Mr. Jacobs provides continuing education credits to realtors on contracts and other critical real estate issues. He has been named Educator of the Year by the Association of Miami Realtors. Mr. Jacobs has an active role in the Dade County Bar Association, chairing the Professional Committee, and sits on the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida’s Bar condominium subcommittee.
