Welcome to the MIAMI Commercial Book Club, where we discuss books that can take your real estate business to the next level. The book club is designed with the commercial real estate practitioner in mind and is an excellent way to learn and network. You can join us in-person when we meet quarterly.
The winter book is: The Swamp: The Everglades, Florida, and the Politics of Paradise, by Michael Grunwald.
America wants its swamp back. Journalist Michael Grunwald shows how a new breed of visionaries like oil/railroad tycoon Henry Flagler, Governor Napoleon B. Broward or activist Marjorie Stoneham Douglas transformed both Florida and America’s politics via 2 centuries’ battle over The Everglades’ development and subsequent $8 billion rescue plan. That plan is already the blueprint for a new worldwide era of ecosystem restoration and this book is a cautionary tale from that era.
Since the public and other professionals look to our 3,000 Commercial Realtors, then exploring our community’s history more deeply is required to be considered our region’s most knowledgeable real estate experts.
