JTHS-MIAMI Golf Tournament Raises Money, Awareness for Autism Research

MIAMI — The Jupiter-Tequesta-Hobe Sound Council of the MIAMI Association Realtors (JTHS-MIAMI) raised $16,000 for the Els for Autism Foundation at the 34th annual JTHS-MIAMI Golf Tournament. The money will aid in future autism research and campus expansion of the Jupiter-based Els Center for Excellence, a world-class site hosting leading-edge programs and services for children affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

“Our Realtor volunteers, business leaders, sponsors and donors came together in a major way to help the Els Center for Excellence with their campus expansion and future research,” 2019 JTHS-MIAMI President Kim Price said. “This local foundation provides a world-class facility that enriches the lives of our local children and we are proud to be a part of their vision.”

About 1 in 59 U.S. children are identified to be affected by ASD. The Els for Autism Foundation is running a capital campaign to complete the construction of The Els Center of Excellence campus. The new facilities will include an adult services center, sports facility, medical and research facility.

JTHS-MIAMI’s two-part fundraising campaign began with an evening pre-party auction held at the Els Center for Excellence. JTHS-MIAMI, business leaders, sponsors and donors shared this incredible evening with special celebrity guests, including National Baseball Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench and former Major League Baseball relief pitcher Rawly Eastwick.

The pre-party auction had auction raffle items, food, drinks and music. Holding this event onsite allowed for private tours to showcase The Els for Autism Foundation’s beautiful Jupiter campus.

The 34th Annual Golf Tournament took place on June 3 at Turtle Creek Country Club in Tequesta. The Tequesta Fire Department kicked off the day with a golf ball drop, followed by 106 golfers hitting the links.

After a friendly competitive round of golf, JTHS-MIAMI Golf Tournament players and guests enjoyed their awards luncheon.
